Culture War
Many from both the right and the left bemoan the state of the American culture today. Whether it is the lack of positive images in TV, movies, music, politicians, sports figures, police in schools and more, freedom and morality are discussed as being in conflict with each other. Benjamin Franklin once wrote on the subject: "Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need for masters." This should ring true to you today as we debate not only our eroding culture, but the role of government in our lives. Are culture and the need for more government control more connected than we realize?

Ignorant & Dangerous on an historic level

from The Gray Area:
7/2/20:

All you have to do is watch these two interviews of Mark McCloskey, CNN & Fox, and you can see one of the major problems in our culture & in our country today - the denial of personal responsibility as an American trait.

The mob is excused from personal responsibility for their terror and destructive actions, yet someone defending themselves from those criminal actions are threatened with unlawfully assaulting the rioters.

Can you not also clearly see why people are leaving our major cities in droves! And Mr, McCloskey came back to the city to help refurbish it, and this is what he gets.

You just can't make this stuff up.

The left, represented by CNN here, cannot fathom why anyone would defend themselves against a mob. They believe you are wrong to even refer to them as a mob. They are just citizens on a walk.

The radical left & the media believe you have a 'right to retreat' vs a 'right to defend'. How counter to individual freedom and personal responsibility can you get. They see the mob as peaceful protestors. If they harm you to the point of incapacitation, then that is justifiable anger on their part. You cannot respond to the mobs, excuse me - protestors, threats because they are exercising their constitutional rights. The Constitution allows for 'peaceful assembly to address grievances'. When you break through a community gate, you are no longer peaceful. Duh!!

But, the radicals in the media and on the political left (like the St Louis prosecutor) believe that it's okay and until and unless they actually hurt you or your property you have to watch and appease. (By the way, these are the same ridiculous 'rules of engagement' the leftist place on our military as well. Don't shoot until you are shot upon and someone has been killed or injured.) If you defend, you are the 'face of political opposition', in this case to BLM. But, in reality, Mr McCloskey did not care about race or politics, he was reacting to a real threat of potential violence against himself, his family and his property. And, all he gets from the left, the media and the social media mobs is criticism and the threat of criminal action for taking personal responsibility to protect himself, his wife and his property on Tuesday night in his own neighborhood.

This is beyond crazy. It is beyond flawed judgment. This represents on the streets, in the media and on the political left an ignorance and lack of common sense that is of historic proportions. You have to go back in history to identify groups of people who have exhibited such levels of ignorance. And, with the arrogance to call it intelligent and progressive. It is the opposite. It is oppressive, tyrannical and stupid!

If you follow this line of thinking you are one of two kinds of people, a Marxist revolutionary who knows exactly what they are doing. Or, a useful idiot to the cause, who has been too propagandized, or dare I say hypnotized, to know what you are doing.

God speed, Mr. McCloskey.
