Culture War
Many from both the right and the left bemoan the state of the American culture today. Whether it is the lack of positive images in TV, movies, music, politicians, sports figures, police in schools and more, freedom and morality are discussed as being in conflict with each other. Benjamin Franklin once wrote on the subject: "Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need for masters." This should ring true to you today as we debate not only our eroding culture, but the role of government in our lives. Are culture and the need for more government control more connected than we realize?

What Is Truth?

4/4/22
from The Gray Area:
4/4/22:
What is Truth? The famous line uttered by Pontius Pilate to Jesus during his interrogation before his crucifixion. Such a powerful, shocking and mind-bending statement. To Pilate it was clear what that meant. In his time, 2,000 years ago, there was but one truth, whatever Rome said. And, Rome said whatever it wanted or that benefited it. So no one could ever know what 'the truth' should be or how to interpret truth to Roman law or Roman law officers. Jesus came along to say there is one natural, moral and absolute truth. He died for taking that position. That point - counterpoint continues today. As we tighten the lens on this huge issue, we come to the 21st century and find that 'the truth' is whatever anyone wants it to be. We scouer unending resources to seek and find 'the truth' without much satisfaction. it seems everyone tells you 'their truth' and it is the opposite of everyone else's truth. Truth has become whatever you want it to be. And, as everyone knows, that is anarchic and disastrous for any society. To further complicate matters, we have news (TV, internet & written), and social media sites who tell you it is too complicated for you to understand, listen to them to clarify it for you.  And, they all lie, or should I say, spin. The only way to get through this frustrating and confusing period is to use your own critical thinking. Without knowing the source bias and, therefore, how you should expect that 'the truth' is being twisted or presented in an incomplete manner from that source, you have no chance of determining 'the truth'. We provide that knowledge here. With that knowledge, you can determine your truth. If you want 'The Truth', read the Holy Bible, starting with the New Testament.
