Culture War
Many from both the right and the left bemoan the state of the American culture today. Whether it is the lack of positive images in TV, movies, music, politicians, sports figures, police in schools and more, freedom and morality are discussed as being in conflict with each other. Benjamin Franklin once wrote on the subject: "Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need for masters." This should ring true to you today as we debate not only our eroding culture, but the role of government in our lives. Are culture and the need for more government control more connected than we realize?

A Juneteenth Message

6/19/20:
On this Juneteenth, in this election year, with all the craziness that is going on around us, it is important to hear and internalize a few calm, serious, and realistic voices on the issues of race that some are trying to use to divide us. We cannot let them divide us, when we have come so far, together. Taken from an email from PragerU and Right & Free and edited by The Gray Area. America is a great country for everyone of every race who works hard and plays by the rules. Eloquent, forceful voices like Candace Owens, Larry Elder, Brandon Tatum, Burgess Owens, Jason Riley and others are speaking out against the ugliness they are seeing and hearing: the destructive lies about our beloved America. Here's what they are saying: "No one -- not a single solitary person defended or excused the death of George Floyd, so why is this rioting happening? Because that is what the media wanted….BLACK AMERICA, WAKE UP. ENLIGHTEN YOURSELVES. DO NOT BE OWNED BY A MAINSTREAM MEDIA AGENDA." CANDACE OWENS             "One of the big #FakeNews narratives is that 'institutional,' 'structural' and 'systemic' racism remain a major problem in America, when, in fact, race has never been a more insignificant barrier to success in America." LARRY ELDER               "There is nothing white liberals fear more than a God fearing, educated, black man." No my friends...there is no systemic racism in America...just Systemic "Marxist Elitism"...an EVIL that uses, abuses and discards anyone for POWER." BURGESS OWENS             "Don't let the Media fool you! The majority of Americans support the police. Do not support the destroying of their city.  The biggest problem with growing up black in America… IS not racism, police brutality, or black on black crime… It's the Mental Brainwashing." BRANDON TATUM             "Black activists and white progressives stress racism because it serves their own interests, not because it actually improves the station of blacks." JASON RILEY             "The New Left Is Exploiting America's Acknowledgement Of The Dark Chapters Of U.S. History." DR. SHELBY STEELE       “The civil rights struggle is over, and it’s won. ... in Chicago, “There’s a person shot every three hours and a person killed every 14 hours, and so far this year there have been about 280 people shot and killed, and most of them are black and by blacks. In Chicago, the police have killed three people. So if you’re concerned about black lives, who should you pay most attention to? ... Systemic racism just doesn't cut the mustard." WALTER WILLIAMS     "When people make decisions based on anger & emotion, seldom are they good decisions." ... Brotherhood, Dr. Martin Luther King said on that hot August day in 1963, comes from faith. That’s what transforms us. Not bitterness. Not hatred. Not violence. ... But over the course of my life, I came to realize that something far more important defined me.. DR. BEN CARSON           In our society,” Sen. Scott says, “we spend so much time on the ‘root causes’ and the disadvantages that we forget to talk about the solutions and the advantage that we have over the rest of the world.” SEN. TIM SCOTT       "Liberals’ devotion to their ideology greatly exceeds their concern about what actually happens to flesh and blood human beings as a result of their ideology. ... The black family survived centuries of slavery and generations of Jim Crow, but it has disintegrated in the wake of the liberals’ expansion of the welfare state. Most black children grew up in homes with two parents during all that time but most grow up with only one parent today." THOMAS SOWELL         It’s not true that America is ‘systemically racist’. ... This is not the 1950s, where you wonder if justice is going to be served. Justice will be served in this particular instance because the apparatus of the state that this incident occurred in, but as well as the American people are a different people now. ... what we know now is there are people who have vested interest in overturning America. They don’t believe that America is inherently good. They think America is inherently evil and this founding country that had slaves has to pay forever. STAR PARKER           "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character." Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.       These voices and others are being drowned out on mainstream & social media. They need to be heard! More From Right & Free + PragerU:
