Health Care
The Left believes universal healthcare is a right. They support President Obama's passage of the Affordable Care Act (PPACA), aka ObamaCare. The middle are afraid of ObamaCare because they don't know what's in it, it means more taxation and higher federal debt, but they are equally afraid of skyrocketing healthcare costs. The Right believes that healthcare is an individual choice just like buying a home and the individual should control their personal healthcare decisions. Therefore, the Right believes PPACA (ObamaCare) is a misguided attempt at Socialism and should be repealed. The Right also believes the US cannot afford such a program when other countries are trying to relieve themselves of their previously instituted universal healthcare programs, and, under its current design more people will just opt out so it does not help access. Because ObamaCare is a federal program, costs will certainly rise in the form of both taxes to pay for it and the services it provides. The individual mandate was believed to violate the Constitution, but on June 28, 2012, SCOTUS issued an opinion which affirmed ObamaCare as a tax and as such was allowable under the Constitution. The fight now returns to the political arena. A very good healthcare blog where you can follow Healthcare and ACA issues can be found here. Below, and in the associated sub-categories, you can follow the arguments on both sides.

Forgive Me, I love you and Goodbye.

A very dear friend of mine sent the following response to the March 27,2020 article in The New York Times titled, It’s Time to Talk About Death. Who speaks for the NEXT to die? I mourn for the dead I and my fellow Certified Sacred Passage End of Life Doulas did not get to help. I grieve for our indifference and circumstantial callousness toward living breathing fellow Life Travelers as they transition to their next dimension. I seek to find Joy from the suffering. I celebrate the heroics of all who serve the ill and dying. I am saddened that the dying and dead are being handled with such indifference in violation of their religious beliefs, traditions and customs. The beauty inside the death experience has been replaced by the terrors of it. Sights, sounds, and smells are all backward. Where is the Music and where are the natural scents and fragrances? Most of all, where is a loving hand to hold? Let us, together, turn this World tragedy into a Love story! Please, use this opportunity to let your readers know that Certified End of Life Doula’s exist and that the death experience can be as beautiful as was their birthday. ---------- In a separate note to me he said the following: Such a ban tears at the fabric of human life. The scars from this decision are permanent for anyone who did not get to say these words to their loved one who died--Forgive Me, I love you and Goodbye. Unforgiveable in a loving society.
