In a breaking news report Thursday, longtime ABC News chief anchor George Stephanopoulos has admitted to donating $50,000 to the Clinton Foundation. In what amounts to an egregious conflict of interest, Stephanopoulos “did not publicly disclose [his donation] while reporting on the Clintons or their non-profit organization.”

This conflict of interest should come as no surprise to anyone, as George Stephanopoulos previously served as the White House Communications Director for President Bill Clinton.

On the heels of the news Thursday that former Clinton aide and ABC News chief anchor George Stephanopoulos gave a previously undisclosed $75,000 to the Clinton Foundation, the “big three” of ABC, CBS, and NBC joined MSNBC in making no on-air mention of the newest scandal facing the foundation.

This morning, Stephanopoulos offered an “apology” for failing to disclose this obvious conflict of interest to his employer and his audience. MRC president and founder Brent Bozell issued the following statement:

George Stephanopoulos’ apology and recusal from moderating the 2016 presidential debate is not enough. Stephanopoulos’ contributions to the Clinton Foundation and his close association with the Clintons make him unfit to play the important role of an impartial, balanced, and fair news anchorman on any ABC political based programming involving the 2016 election. He is a Clinton partisan and a liberal commentator and he has been deceiving his audience. ABC is an accomplice to this deception and now has an ethics and integrity problem.”
