What to Know: Today, Texans from around the state will participate in a School Choice Rally in Austin.
“Thousands of Texans are expected to attend a school choice rally at the State Capitol on Wednesday,” WBAP reports. “Event organizers say the rally will be a chance for parents, educators and students to voice their support for educational opportunity in the state.”
The TPPF Take: Competition, even if it’s only from charter schools (which are also public schools), make all of our schools better.
“San Antonio schools were losing students, and were looking at having to close some campuses,” explains TPPF’s Kara Belew. “Instead, the district decided to do something innovative—and offer their families the kind of programs and results that were drawing students to charters. Every family deserves a choice.”
