Media Melts Down

Last night we watched the 2018 State of the Union Address and this morning we reviewed the liberal media’s reaction to it. And we are left with one question, “Were we watching the same speech as ABC and CNN?”

The 2018 State of the Union address was a hit, by any standard. President Trump presented a strong and united vision for America. He was alternately tough and compassionate (his tribute to the police officer who adopted the baby of a heroin addict left some in tears). He spoke directly to the American people, and to those in the balcony — highlighting the very best qualities in them.

And the polls agreed with that assessment. A CBS News poll found that 75% of viewers approved of the president’s speech. Additionally, 8 in 10 Americans who watched “felt that the president was trying to unite the country, rather than divide it. Two-thirds said the speech made them feel proud…”

However, the liberal media have gone out of their way to put their biased spin on the speech — ignoring how well received it was. ABC pundits attacked it as “divisive” and “gloomy,” arguing that the President “stok(ed) racial tensions.” CNN (“the most trusted name in news”) even took aim at the First Lady’s outfit.

MRC President Brent Bozell had this to say about the media’s reaction:

“The media’s overwrought, liberal bias was on full display Tuesday night in their reaction to President Trump’s State of the Union address. The President delivered a promising, powerful speech that resonated with most of America. 75% of Americans approved of his address yet ABC, NBC, CNN and MSNBC’s coverage was overwhelming critical. This is more evidence of how out of touch the media have become. These “journalists” live in their own elitist bubble and the public sees right through it.”

The liberal media’s coverage of the State of the Union was ridiculous and shows just how out of touch they are with the American people.
