Why is this man not a media star?

Stephen Willeford, lives just down the road from the Sutherland Springs, Texas church and was instrumental in stopping the attack and taking down the deranged gunman. He has everything a modern darling needs to possess. He responded bravely in a crisis. He put his own life in danger. He stopped a dangerous man. His actions saved further loss of life. He exceeded all expectations. So, why then is this man not a media star? Why do you not know his name and see him every day for the past month on your television screen, on all channels news and talking head shows, on all mid-morning talk shows?

Why are the likes of Colin Kaepernick media darlings, receiving all this coverage and not this man?

Why was he not one of the candidates for TIME – person of the year? Kaepernick and others were.

This is another one of those moments which happen quietly a couple times a year, that passes mostly unnoticed. But, when you reflect back on it, these people you never here about ad nauseum on the news, who really made a difference, created a lasting image and should be a model for what every person, man, woman & especially child should look up to …goes unnoticed … his name is not on the tongues of every person in America like the names of, say, Judge Moore’s accusers or #MeToo.

Why, because the media’s anti-gun template and narratives prevent most mainstream media outlets from acknowledging his actions. Willeford is a prime example of a good guy with a gun stopping a very bad guy with a gun.

It’s not like he’s the only one either, here’s a list of 373 more people you never hear of.

Instead of playing that fact up, they try to minimize and ignore it. Better to discuss people who attack the country, their neighbors, or business associates than those who stand up for it.
