His speech at school’s convocation is met with chants from student group.

About two dozen protesters interrupted and largely drowned out former FBI Director James Comey Friday at his first major public speech since he was fired by President Donald Trump, chanting, “No justice, no peace” at a convocation at Howard University.

A group of protesters at the back of a packed auditorium at the historically black university began shouting, “We shall not be moved” just as Mr. Comey was set to begin his remarks.

They continued for more than 20 minutes with chants including “I said I love being black,” and “Get out, James Comey, you’re not our homie,” an apparent reference to T-shirts some of Mr. Comey’s supporters have worn since his firing saying, “Comey is my homie.”

A student group at Howard called HUResist, which speaks out about alleged policing abuses, organized the protest. The group said in a statement that it was protesting the choice of Mr. Comey as speaker for his alleged “efforts to dismantle the growing Black Lives Matter movement, similar to the FBI’s efforts to dismantling of the Civil Rights and Black Power movements just a few decades prior.”
