Is ‘The Swamp’ Being Drained?
< < Go Back
“2.1 million… career employees, who form the backbone of the federal bureaucracy, have become targets of the President’s campaign vow to ‘drain the swamp’…” The Washington Post, 7/19/17
“The deconstruction of the State Department is underway …” Politico, 6/30/17
“Could Trump really be draining the swamp? The water appears to be receding at key beltway bureaucracies.” The Wall Street Journal, 6/30/17
The drive-bys are hitting the President hard for his supposed laziness in filling federal job slots. The Washington Post‘s July 5th reprimand: “Trump Administration Sets One of the Slowest Paces for Staffing and Nominations in Recent History.” Almost all coverage excuses Democrat obstruction.
But here’s the thing. President Trump revealed something very important about this back on February 18… : “When I see a story about, ‘Donald Trump didn’t fill hundreds and hundreds of jobs, its because in many cases , we don’t want to fill those jobs’ … it’s because they’re unnecessary to have. We have so many people in government .. its people over people over people. I say, what do all these people do? You don’t need all these jobs.”
Thank goodness … to reduce the size scale and reach of government … the President is using time tested methods of business – attrition, layoffs and buyouts.
President Trump is starting to gain significant ground.
