In these gloomy and uncertain days, when long-held certitudes about government, politics, and international relations are all under challenge, it is tempting to think that everything is falling apart-or in one fine phrase, the world is going to hell in a hand basket. many people think of globalization as the villain of this piece. Others blame inequality-especially income inequality.
