Rallies support women’s rights, oppose Trump policies.

Some schools in Washington, D.C., and elsewhere were closed as women went on strike, while some courts and offices reported that they had cut back on work. But the actions and strike efforts otherwise didn’t cause widespread disruptions.

In downtown Pittsburgh, several hundred women and a few dozen men gathered on the steps of the city-county building as a string of speakers criticized President Donald Trump and called for greater equality for women and groups they said have been marginalized.

Still, the president tweeted out his support of the event, saying: “On International Women’s Day, join me in honoring the critical role of women here in America & around the world.”
