Reactions to Trump’s acceptance speech
< < Go Back
from The Gray Area:
Reactions to Trump’s acceptance speech differ across party lines, much as expected.
Donald Trump made his acceptance speech last night at the Republican National Convention. He stayed on script and away from bombastic, emotional statements he is known for. Even when protestors in the audience acted up, he said nothing, looked away for about 15-20 seconds and then pointed out how great the Cleveland Police have been.
He did what he needed to do. Could he have done better, sure. Could he have done worse, absolutely. On balance, good speech, he could have delivered it better by not yelling. But he is not the polished orator like our current President who delivers bad policy beautifully.
This election will come down to two things:
1. Do you agree with his policies? Last night he outlined many.
2. Do you believe him?
Next week in Philadelphia where the Democrats will assemble, the same two questions will apply.
In Trump’s speech he promised to tell the truth, so fact checkers have been busy all night going after his statements. Interestingly, both left and right fact checkers have found him largely accurate in the points he made in last night’s speech.
