Gun Control
The 2nd Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America secures the right of citizens to bear arms. Specifically it states: A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. The left wants to eliminate guns from every law abiding citizen because guns are dangerous. Unfortunately, this leaves guns only to criminals. Not a very smart approach to eliminating a constitutional right. A right that has nothing to do with the role of guns in 18th century life. The Founders knew that throughout history, government overreach, as Britain did to their colonies and without the ability to defend themselves, is unrestricted. Give a look at public opinion in Gallup Polls on guns. Give a look at the way law abiding citizens use guns to defend themselves at Armed Citizen. Give a look at gun violence statistics.

Nothing new or useful

6/2/22
from The Gray Area:
6/2/22:
President Biden took the opportunity of 3 mass shootings in three weeks to go on national television to discuss how to stop 'gun violence'. Nothing new or useful was presented. The political narrative of 'gun violence', not the real issue of why this happens, was being served by his action. Here are his list of solutions with clarification (often needed when Biden speaks):
  • Ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines (30 rounds)
    • Biden knows he can't get this done because there are too many vulnerable Democrat senators to get this passed. “There are also Democrats that do not support an assault weapons ban. We know that [Sen.] Joe Manchin is one of them.  Sens. Michael Bennet (D-Colo.), Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.), Angus King (I-Maine), Jon Tester (D-Mont.) and Mark Warner (D-Va.) voted with Manchin (D-W.Va.) and every Senate Republican against Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s (D-Calif.) proposal to ban assault weapons during the Senate’s last extended gun control debate, in 2013.  Is that going to be different now?
    • Biden says 2/3 of the people in this country oppose the sale of assault weapons.. Which states? Texas, Ark, Missouri, aw, no. California, sure. When yo use national averages or polls, remember where most of the people reside, in the largest Democrat cities.
  • And if Congress can't ban assault weapons, it should raise the age to purchase them from 18 to 21
    • Biden said that an 18 yr old can buy an assault weapon in Texas, but not a pistol. That's only because there is a federal law that says you cannot buy a pistol until you are 21.  Abbott says that for 150 yrs, 18 yr olds have been able to buy a rifle.
    • 10 yrs the assault weapon ban was law, mass shootings went down. Mass shootings tripled after Republicans let the ban end.
      • No, there was no change in mass shootings, increase or decrease.
    • license to carry gun owners are 12 times less likely to commit a crime (study)
  • Strengthen background checks, enact safe storage laws and red flag laws
    • red flag laws exist in NY, did that stop the Buffalo shooting?
  • Repeal the immunity that protects gun manufacturers from liability
    • already, gun manufacturers are sued for how people who buy their guns use them.
    • currently banks won't loan money to gun manufacturers
  • Address the mental health crisis
    • spend more money for school counselors. Really, Joe, that's your solution to the mental health crisis?
  • No hardening of schools
  • And, of course, Biden continues to be fast & loose with the facts.
The 2nd Amendment keeps getting ignored or the left keeps saying we are not after the 2nd Amendment, just common sense gun laws.  The hypocrisy here screams.  Biden already said the 2nd amendment is not absolute.  Hillary used to say she was not after the 2nd Amendment. Neither she, Biden nor the rest of the activists Democrats have to specifically go after the 2nd amendment to eliminate your right to bear arms.  Reflect here on Hillary's slight of hand in 2016. Does this sound like what you heard tonight? Remember, this is all about a political narrative designed to separate Americans from their ability to defend themselves.
  • 'Shall not be infringed'!
  • If a politician says you don't need a gun, you need a gun.
  • What can the government do after it takes your guns? Anything they want.
