2019 Politics
2019 begins a year of Democrat control of the House of Representatives after their success during the midterm elections of November, 2018. The Democrats have stated they plan to be a check on Trump, and to be an investigative body hoping for impeachment, or at a minimum, such a distraction as to make Trump's last two years ineffective. 2019 could be more drama than 2017 & 18.

The Democrats Obstruct Their Own Impeachment

12/23/19
from The Wall Street Journal,
12/23/19:

The Democrats have screamed for months of the urgency of impeachment. They’ve even used urgency as an excuse to deny due process to President Trump. But suddenly the urgency seems to have passed.

Mrs. Pelosi says she’s holding back because Democrats haven’t seen any Senate process that seems “fair.” Remember: The House allowed the witnesses proposed by Democrats but not most of the ones proposed by Republicans, including the whistleblower who started it all. Was that fair? Fairness is obviously in the eye of the beholder. I think the Senate should give Democrats the same treatment: Republican witnesses but not Democratic ones. That would bring some balance. Hal Dantone Kingsville, Texas
