The situation facing the Democrats 13 months out from the 2020 Presidential Election is that President trump has taken away almost every issue with his steaming hot economy. There are only two tins that can happen between now and November 2020 that can help the Democrats.

1. They can impeach Donald Trump. They have been trying that since the day he won in November 2016 without success.

2. The economy fails. The are praying for a recession before November 2020. Actually they are doing more than praying, they have the media constantly using the word 'recession' whenever anything other than stellar growth shows up in monthly numbers. They don't have much to work with,but it is a long game for them. If a recession comes and they have been calling it, they think they will look like geniuses.

So today, they are happy. Trump is heading into reelection with a deep manufacturing recession.

Thwarting success of Trump trade deals with EU, Mexico (not ratified), and China (sending signals that China should wait until after the 2020 election) helps this too. As does a major auto strike (GM).

It is more than sad that one of our two political parties are out and out rooting for economic collapse. The reason, whether a true collapse or something they can say is a collapse, has propelled every Democrat Presidential administration in this last century, except JFK, into the White House.
