Culture War
Many from both the right and the left bemoan the state of the American culture today. Whether it is the lack of positive images in TV, movies, music, politicians, sports figures, police in schools and more, freedom and morality are discussed as being in conflict with each other. Benjamin Franklin once wrote on the subject: "Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need for masters." This should ring true to you today as we debate not only our eroding culture, but the role of government in our lives. Are culture and the need for more government control more connected than we realize?

Incomprehensible, Baseless & Idiotic!

The Wall Street Journal reported that Nike Nixes ‘Betsy Ross Flag’ Sneaker After Colin Kaepernick Intervenes. What? Coming into Independence day, Nike pulls a patriotic shoe? Because Colin Kaepernick says the flag "is an offensive symbol".

If you believed him when he said he was not protesting the Flag when he and others kneeled at NFL games, then you now see how wrong you were. He is clearly saying that the US Flag is a bad symbol. Not a symbol for good.

This is idiotic and baseless beyond belief. Its the Betsy ross flag, not the Confedrate Flag. Its the original of the flag union soldiers (white & Black) carried during the civil war! A symbol, by the way, which gave slaves their freedom and enables him to make millions of dollars playing football, to hold such idiotic ideas, spout them in public and get a international company to respond!

Kaepernick should be roundly mocked in the media (right?).

Nike should be ashamed (hopefully, eventually).

And, if you haven't destroyed your Nike gear yet, do it before Thursday, July 4th!

Sneaker maker pulls Independence Day-themed shoe after NFL star raised concerns about symbolism.

Nike Inc. is yanking a U.S.A.-themed sneaker featuring an early American flag after NFL star-turned-activist Colin Kaepernick told the company it shouldn’t sell a shoe with a symbol that he and others consider offensive, according to people familiar with the matter. The sneaker giant created the Air Max 1 USA in celebration of the July Fourth holiday, and it was slated to go on sale this week. The heel of the shoe featured a U.S. flag with 13 white stars in a circle, a design created during the American Revolution and commonly referred to as the Betsy Ross flag.

After shipping the shoes to retailers, Nike asked for them to be returned without explaining why, the people said. The shoes aren’t available on Nike’s own apps and websites. “Nike has chosen not to release the Air Max 1 Quick Strike Fourth of July as it featured the old version of the American flag,” a Nike spokeswoman said.
