Ronald Reagan's missile defense vision is saving lives in Israel: Examiner Editorial

Two stories below from 2014 that prove this situation with Hamas in Israel does not change. Year after year, each story sounds like it's the one that happened last week. Cease fires do not work. The only thing they do is allow Hamas to claim victory and reset for the next assault.

A third story below from this week in the American media blaming Israel reveals the political motives of the left.

Hamas don't care about Gaza City or Israeli casualties, only about the destruction of Israel. This is 100% clear. The only way yo end this is to let Israel defend itself and drive Hamas into the history of evil destroyed.

Liberals scoffed in 1983 when President Ronald Reagan first proposed the Strategic Defense Initiative missile defense system. They called it "Star Wars" and claimed the technology was fictional. Other critics took a different tack, arguing that Star Wars would be harmful if it did work because it would upset the delicate nuclear balance between the United States and Soviet Union. The Soviets depended on the threat of mutual assured destruction in order to maintain diplomatic parity with a wealthier, more advanced adversary. To disturb that balance, some analysts argued, would destabilize the international order. Of course, the Soviets, whose entire system of government was rooted in the use of terror, opposed even a shared American-Soviet missile defense system for precisely this reason. Three decades after Reagan's landmark proposal, the technical issue is moot. This week, the world has watched Israel's Iron Dome system -- partially funded by the U.S. and incorporating U.S. technology -- perform remarkably well against more than 1,000 Hamas rockets fired from the Gaza Strip.

RUSH: Because the media will not permit, the Regime will not permit any news coverage of Hamas or the Palestinians as aggressors. And it’s not fair that Israel has this capability and that Hamas doesn’t. But Israeli successes are not going to be reported. Israeli successes are going to be recharacterized as brutalities and certainly not defensive measures and so forth. Your point’s a great one. Hamas is launching a lot of rockets aimed right at the Israeli civilian population. There’s no question. And yet all we hear is the Israelis have got to stop killing Hamas children, when it’s Hamas putting them in the targets.

Folks, this is another one of these things, one of these topics where nothing makes any sense. I don’t know how you can be alive and a thoughtful, engaged person, particularly if you’re a journalist, I don’t know how you do not know what Hamas is doing. There have been pictures, if these journalists can’t read, there are pictures of the rockets in Palestinian schools and hospitals. There’s no question that this is happening, and yet the reporting continues that the Israelis are killing children. And it’s gotta stop.
